LIONS TOURNAMENT
On Sunday 6th September, Lower Beeding Lions hosted
our annual U10’s/U9’s 7-A-Side Home Tournament at
Lower Beeding pitches.
This year’s event proved to be a great success, not only
for generating some revenue for our football club, but
most importantly showcasing what Lower Beeding
Lions JFC is all about, junior football played in good team
spirit, supported and managed by a well run club.
Our thanks goes to Craig Robinson, our U10’s coach, who organised and co-ordinated the tournament.
‘As a hardened Sean Bean type Yorkshireman, when the lads starting crying when they missed a penalty, I have to report I was fighting back the tears. The X Factor certainly came to Lower Beeding on Sunday!
Thank you TOURNAMENT TEAM for your support.’
Craig Robinson
These are some of the e-mails that Craig received from the participating teams
"A very enjoyable afternoon."
"We very much enjoyed it.”
"What a lovely tournament."
"Very well run, all the boys had a FAB time."
"A great afternoon."
"Very well run and all the games played in the correct spirit
with sensible refs."
"Thank you for a great day yesterday."
“We will be back next year with two teams!
“It was a great, well organised tournament. Well done!
The overall tournament winners for the U10’s were Dorking Saints
and Three Bridges won the U9’s.
NEW SEASON REPORT
The 09/10 season got underway with a mixed bag of results from all our teams with wins from the U 14’s beating Maidenbower Colts 2 -1, as well as an amazing 7 -1 victory from our U12’s against Roffey Robins.
This was a great result for them, as not only was it their opening game of the season, it was also their
first league football match.
The scoreline was not so good for the U13’s who were defeated 4 – 8 by last year’s league champions, Southdown Athletic, as were the U11’s who were beaten by Cranleigh Colts 1 – 3.
The U10’s had a great start of the mini-soccer season, with wins for both of their matches versus Hurstpierpoint, 5-2 and 1-0 respectively.
The U9’s were not so lucky in their first match against Ockley Acorns, but were able to secure a draw in
the second game.
NEW GOALS!
We have just set up a second pitch at Cowfold, smaller than an adult pitch with goals 21/7 ft
which is primarily aimed at Youth Football i.e. U11’s, U12’s and U13’s.
It will take the strain off the Lower Beeding Association and give much more flexibility in arranging
fixtures and prevent pitches being trashed.
We were fortunate that the goals were helped paid for by a 50% grant from the Football Foundation.
