Issue 27   - Newsletter - September 2008

SEPTEMBER RAIN STOPS PLAY!
The season did not kick off to a good start for many, due to the unseasonal wet weather, creating waterlogged pitches and causing the Lions U10’s Annual Tournament to be cancelled at the last minute. The U16’s and U12’s also had to call off their opening matches.
Despite this, the U13’s, coached by Mark Bailey, secured a supreme victory over Lingfield at the weekend, winning 7-3, with goals from Tom Price (1), Adam Wicking (2) and Sam Hayter (4).
The U11’s led by Paul Rogers and Paul Dollner, also enjoyed a successful opening game winning 6-0 against Henfield to launch their first 11-a-side season, with goal scorers Tyler Nightingale (3), Nathan Kennell(1), Dylan Spry (1) and Nicholas Bayne(1)
FIXTURES
Please note you can locate your team’s fixtures easily now, as they are all listed on the Lions web site. Just click on the appropriate age group for this season’s listings and don’t forget to catch up with all the  teams weekly results and match reports.

TRAINING
There has been some confusion lately regarding winter training!
Please note that the website has now been updated with the correct training information for all age groups. However if in doubt, always check with your appropriate coach first.

NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER
We welcome Ruth Comber, one of the U11’s Mums to the committee.
She has kindly volunteered to take over from Helen Ordever as our new Welfare Officer. As with all our committee members and coaches, Ruth will be CRB checked before she is able to take on the role.
