Issue 22 - Newsletter - April 2008
www.lowerbeedinglions.co.uk
It has been another exciting season, with some great football played, despite
having to endure the usual inclement weather conditions, including snow!
Although the football season has just about come to an end, many of the teams within our club have a number of tournaments to look forward to over the coming months. Let’s hope the sun shines, the children do their best and most of all they enjoy themselves.
CONGRATULATIONS U11’S!
Well done to Clive Pyzer and all of his U11’s team.
They have enjoyed a remarkable first season as an 11 a side team and for all the effort they have put in, they have been crowned champions by coming top of their league. It was a close run thing, beating their rivals, Southdown Athletic by goal difference. Well done to all the boys, who earned a well deserved victory. They will now be promoted to the top A Division.
Thank you to Clive for all the time he has put into the team and for the invaluable help of Barry Nash, Andrew Blair-Rains, Mick Ellis, and the support of all the parents who have contributed in making this such a great season.
The U11’s have also succeeded in winning the sportsmanship award for the 3rd year running.
The award is for the team that shows the most sportsmanlike conduct throughout the season and is voted for by the coaches of the opposition teams. This award is for the whole of the league and covers all divisions, which means they were top of well over 30 teams.
A special mention once again, should be made to the good conduct of the players, plus the coach, referee, assistants and to the parents, whose attitude and support has contributed to this award.
An excellent achievement, to pick up two awards!
AWARDS DAY – Sat 28th June- Not to be missed!!
Just a reminder of our annual Awards Day at the end of June, the highlight of the Lions calendar!
A time for all the age groups to get together and celebrate their achievements, as well as a relaxed social occasion for all. Please see the attached document for more details. Plus the agenda for our AGM.
Can I remind all parents, that if you haven’t already done so, you need to return any cups awarded last season, back to your coaches as soon as possible please, as this year, we are going to endeavour to engrave the cups before the awards day. The awards will be as follows:

Registration Forms
Just a reminder to all parents. If you wish to register your child for next season, please print off the attached form and fill in and return with your payment, either to your coach or send directly to the registration secretary – Gill Woodlock. The address is on the form. We would really appreciate if you could endeavour to get the forms returned as soon as possible please, in order to help us with the time consuming registration process.
After much discussion the coaches and committee concluded that it was necessary to increase the membership fees for the coming season. They will now be £70 per child, with a £15 reduction for siblings. If anyone has difficulty in paying, please contact our registration secretary, Gill.

Finally, just to say thank you to all the dedicated coaches, assistants, committee members
