Issue no. 41- Newsletter – December 2009
www.lowerbeedinglions.co.uk

History repeated itself once again this year
as the rain took its toll causing week after week of matches
being postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
Despite all this there have been some great matches played
throughout the club, with some excellent results from our
four Horsham District League teams.
The most senior age group of our club, the U14’s, coached by Mark
Bailey have had a terrific season so far,  winning all but one of their C division league matches  pushing them 3 points from the top of the leader board, with a game in hand.
Clive Pyzer’s U13’s Lions roared to Cup semi-final postion recently, beating local rivals, Horsham Tigers 4-3 in  their last clash before the Christmas break, whilst the U12’s led by Paul Dollner and Paul Rogers have set themselves up in a good postion in their B division,
winning 3 out of 5 of their games.
The U11’s have had a challenging time playing their first season of
11a side league football. Having to play on larger pitches is an overwhelming and big step up from mini-soccer and being placed in the top divison was never going to be easy, but they are trying their hardest and like true lions they are battling on courageously in the face of adversity, with coach, Paul Daymond encouraging them all the way.
Meanwhile Luke Aldrich’s U9’s and Craig Robinson’s U10’s mini-soccer teams have had a super season so far, winning the majority of their games.
Triumphant or despondent, win or lose, don’t forget the Lions motto:
Our goal is for all our individual players to play with pride, good team spirit, commitment and trying to achieve the best at all times.

Well Done to U10’s Ben
Ben Caidan, a member of Lower Beeding Lions U10’s, was recently selected to play for Brighton's Development Centre against St Hill Blues FC.
On the day of the match he was given the honour of captaining the side and, although he normally plays in midfield, he played out of position, at centre back, in a highly entertaining game which Brighton won 3-0.
Following this victory I'm delighted to say that Ben has now been invited to a 6 week trial at Brighton's centre of excellence. Well done Ben!
